[1:11] <diegows> is there a way to stop backfilling

[2:26] <robbat2> radosgw-admin key create --uid=$UID --subuser=$UID:$SUB --access-key=$KEY --secret=$SECRET
[2:26] <robbat2> use a user+subuser that already exist on your system

[5:27] <bkero> robbat2: I'm not sure what subuser, accesskey, or secret. I'm gettina bunch of faults back though. https://pastebin.mozilla.org/4313971
[5:29] <robbat2> bkero, from my full testcase posting:
[5:29] <robbat2> radosgw-admin user create --uid=test --display-name=test ; radosgw-admin subuser create --uid=test --subuser=test:test ; radosgw-admin key create --uid=test --subuser=test:test --access-key=D4KJW07WJ33T41S2QDF7 --secret "QUIdqQM1hVK9lHU6cZFElaUhti0kCTt3iNRTQorP" ;
[5:30] <robbat2> a key entry will be created with the correct secret, but wrong accesskey
[5:30] <robbat2> and if you drop --subuser=test:test it will be created correctly

[5:56] <robbat2> 292 days of uptime and crashed your raid5?
[5:57] <robbat2> but with all devices missing like that, maybe the controller dropped out?
[5:57] <bkero> Same controller controls the system SSDs too
[5:57] <bkero> Been waiting 290 of those days to be back in Portland. An LVM snapshotting bug caused a hang, needing a reboot. All drive probe attempts hang too.
[5:57] <bkero> I don't want to reboot it until in person :/

Any way to separate them so each pool has its own sotrage size?

[9:34] <Theuni2> hm
[9:34] <Theuni2> is there a way to set the default id for "ceph ???id" to something else than "admin"?
[9:34] <Theuni2> setting "[client] id = .." doesn't do much, the docs and man pages aren't helping
[9:39] <josef_> symmcom, from I can tell, pools don't have size. http://ceph.com/docs/master/rados/operations/pools/ , the only thing size refers to is the number of replicas.

[9:44] <josef_> symmcom, so my guess is that if you actually want a RADOS-pool to be limited, you'd have to create a Ceph-cluster with a specific number of OSDs. AFAIK there's no way of telling the cephx-layer to limit the size either. But I wouldn't rely on this answer as I'm just a Ceph-newbie.

[12:34] <Giorgis> 014-02-15 16:03:38.714434 7fb65ba64820 -1 monclient(hunting): ERROR: missing keyring, cannot use cephx for authentication
[12:34] <Giorgis> but then I found this: https://www.mail-archive.com/ceph-users@lists.ceph.com/msg05317.html
[12:34] <andreask> Giorgis: what is your running configuration?
[12:35] <Giorgis> which was stating that I should put [client.admin] keyring = /etc/ceph/ceph.client.admin.keyring in the conf file
[12:35] <Giorgis> and after I did that I am getting the FCGX_Accept_r returned -88 error
[12:35] <andreask> you also configured a socket file for the rgw?
[12:36] <andreask> rgw socket path ....
[12:36] <Giorgis> yes in /tmp/radosgw.sock
[12:37] <Giorgis> # ls -l /tmp/radosgw.sock srwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 Feb 15 15:09 /tmp/radosgw.sock
[12:37] <andreask> hmm ... from Feb 15?
[12:37] <Giorgis> I am trying to solve this problem the last 3 days
[12:39] <andreask> -88 would indicate that there is a problem with the socket path
[12:39] <Giorgis> Is it normal if I follow the guide http://ceph.com/docs/master/radosgw/config/ to get the ERROR: missing keyring, cannot use cephx for authentication
[12:40] <Giorgis> this was my first bump....which was solved by adding the [client.admin] keyring = /etc/ceph/ceph.client.admin.keyring in the conf file
[12:40] <Giorgis> is that OK???
[12:40] <andreask> if you query the running configuration on your ceph cluster like: ceph --admin-daemon /var/run/ceph/ceph-osd.0.asok config show | grep socket .... you see the socket configured correctly
[12:41] <andreask> ?
[12:41] <Giorgis> "admin_socket": "\/var\/run\/ceph\/ceph-osd.0.asok",

[12:42] <Giorgis> [client.radosgw.gateway]

[12:42] <Giorgis> keyring = /etc/ceph/keyring.radosgw.gateway

[12:43] <Giorgis> isn't it correct?
[12:43] <andreask> "master" is the hostname of your gateway?
[12:43] <Giorgis> yes...it could also be the localhost
[12:44] <Giorgis> should the rgw socket path be rgw_socket_path
[12:44] <Giorgis> (with underscores)
[12:45] <Giorgis> ?
[12:45] <andreask> doesn't matter
[12:45] <Giorgis> should I delete the /etc/radosgw.socket
[12:45] <Giorgis> sorry /tmp/radosgw.socket and create it again?

[12:51] <andreask> you stopped the manual started rgw first?
[12:51] <Giorgis> yeap!!!
[12:52] <andreask> and whats the error message of the init script?
[12:52] <Giorgis> no error produced in the output...
[12:53] <andreask> and in debug mode?
[12:54] <Giorgis> I am not sure what you mean....do you mean to run the command by hand with --debug?
[12:55] <Giorgis> how should I start the service with debug option?
[12:55] <loicd> ccourtaut: removing an OSD before removing the device requires something like http://pastealacon.com/34001 . There should probably be an easier way.
[12:55] <andreask> Giorgis: e.g. by adding "set -x" to the script after the shebang
[12:55] <josef_> Hi, when defining hardware for a monitor node, how big should one define disk space?
[12:56] <josef_> Is there any way to calculate how much disk that would be used for say a 200TB raw cluster ?
[12:58] <andreask> josef_: there are no special disk space requirements for monitors ... but I'd say don't start below 10GB for osds
[12:58] <andreask> josef_: for mons ... of course
[12:58] <Giorgis> +andreask: sorry...not following...I am not familiar with what you are saying

[13:02] <josef_> andreask, ok. Starting out at about 60GB disk and 128GB ram, expanding later on..
[13:03] <ccourtaut> loicd: indeed

[13:25] <josef_> The last configuration example at http://ceph.com/docs/master/start/hardware-recommendations/ says that it should house a examples for two OSD examples and one monitor, but i seems that it's just the OSDs?
[13:26] <andreask> hmm ... yeah .. not the freshest example
[13:27] <josef_> andreask, ok, then we'll have some ram to play with ;-) We could put in a MDS as well, or re-purpose the memory on other nodes.
[13:28] <josef_> andreask, I guess it's common to run several ceph-mons on the same hardware as well? To occupy all the cores.
[13:29] <andreask> no
[13:29] <josef_> Actually hardware recommendations would be really nice to have something quiet fresh to compare with, especially when buying stuff for a new cluster. Having one since before to compare with I think is not that common.
