[1:42] <amichel> I'm trying to test the radosgw with the PHP S3 API example, but it doesn't seem to work anymore, looks like that documentation was written against an older version of the SDK or something. Anyone have any guidance on that? Is there a preferred version of the AWS SDK I should be using perhaps?

[2:01] <paravoid> sagelap1: hey
[2:02] <sagelap1> paravoid: hey on a call, just a sec
[2:03] <paravoid> sure, I'll be around for a while
[2:03] <paravoid> my sleep schedule is all fcked up anyway :-)
[2:05] <yehudasa> I'm not sure where that documentation came from, I can't really spell PHP
[2:12] <dmick> yehudasa: no, I meant "is there a recommended version of the SDK that we've documented".
[2:13] <yehudasa> dmick: not that I'm aware of.. that doc came from dho
[2:14] * miroslav (~miroslav@173-228-38-131.dsl.dynamic.sonic.net) Quit (Quit: Leaving.)
[2:15] <dmick> er, which doc are we talking about? I assumed amichel had "some PHP S3 app"; are you assuming it's something DHO created?... O_o
[2:17] <yehudasa> http://ceph.com/docs/master/radosgw/s3/php/
[2:17] <yehudasa> I guess this one
[2:18] <dmick> ah. hey amichel, care to clarify rather than having us guess? :)

[2:21] <sagelap1> back
[2:21] <paravoid> hey
[2:22] <sagelap1> paravoid: talked to sam a bit, and it's odd that your cluster has dug itself into this hole. before spending a lot of effort on that part, i'd like to see if it will do it again. the workaround to get out is
[2:22] * sjustlaptop (~sam@38.122.20.226) Quit (Read error: Operation timed out)
[2:22] <paravoid> I have one more issue today... :-)
[2:22] <sagelap1> ceph osd set noup ; restart every osd, wait for them all to 'catch up' (watch disk io/cpu load), and then ceph osd unset noup and let them all boot at once. at that point everyone will be up to date and things should be happy
[2:23] <sagelap1> oh boy!
[2:23] <paravoid> hehe
[2:23] <paravoid> so, since we did all that yesterday
[2:23] <paravoid> the resync rate has slowed down substantially
[2:24] <paravoid> the boxes I'm trying to get rid of have less than 10MB/s traffic
[2:24] * loicd (~loic@magenta.dachary.org) Quit (Quit: Leaving.)
[2:24] <paravoid> avg 5M/s, 4.3M/s, 1.1M/s, 400k/s
[2:24] <paravoid> for box 1/2/3/4
[2:25] <sagelap1> i'm not surprised if those pgs are lagged
[2:50] * LeaChim (~LeaChim@b0faf18a.bb.sky.com) Quit (Ping timeout: 480 seconds)
[2:50] <dmick> amichel: I think we have a clue
[2:51] <dmick> at least part of the issue is: the AmazonS3() constructor (if that's what PHP calls those) now takes arguments for key, secret, id, name
[2:56] <dmick> like:
[2:56] <dmick> $Connection = new AmazonS3(array(
[2:56] <dmick>      'key' => AWS_KEY,
[2:56] <dmick>      'secret' => AWS_SECRET,
[2:56] <dmick>      'canonical_id' => AWS_CANONICAL_ID,
[2:56] <dmick>      'canonical_name' => AWS_CANONICAL_NAME,
[2:56] <dmick> ));

[14:42] <Bram> hi guys, strange issue
[14:42] <Bram> I'm using cephfa with 3 mds's, 1 active, 2 standby
[14:43] <Bram> for some reason ceph thinks that I have 5 mds's
[14:43] <Bram> 1 active, 4 standby
[14:43] <Bram> 3 of them on the same host
[14:43] <Bram> ceph mds dump gives me the following:
[14:43] <Bram> 9966: 10.0.1.156:6810/7027 '0' mds.0.106 up:active seq 52644
[14:43] <Bram> 9657: 10.0.1.156:6803/31564 '0' mds.-1.0 up:standby seq 222038
[14:43] <Bram> 10521: 10.0.1.125:6800/30344 '2' mds.-1.0 up:standby seq 1
[14:43] <Bram> 10540: 10.0.1.79:6800/15005 '1' mds.-1.0 up:standby seq 1
[14:43] <Bram> 10543: 10.0.1.156:6801/8900 '0' mds.-1.0 up:standby seq 1
[14:44] <jluis> that sounds like you had initially 2 and added 3 more (even if without noticing you had the initial two)
[14:44] <Bram> yup could be
[14:44] <Bram> problem is, how to clean it up
[14:44] <Bram> cephfs now regulary stalls
[14:44] <jluis> if you only want 3, you should remove the other 2
[14:45] <Bram> sound logical but as I see it, I have 3 mds's all with id 0
[14:45] <Bram> ceph mds rm 0 doesn't do muc
[14:45] <jluis> ah, you do indeed
[14:45] <jluis> didn't even noticed that
[14:45] <Bram> so I'm a little stuck, id 1 and 2 are valid
[14:45] <Bram> I just have 2 ghost 0's :)
[14:46] <jluis> this is interesting
[14:47] <Bram> yeah :) some clients do work fine, other clients stall, the question is how to clean this up and if possible prevent this in the future
[14:47] <Bram> you have set map and get map
[14:47] <Bram> but how to edit :)
[14:47] <jluis> let me check that for you
[14:47] <Bram> thx
[14:48] <MrNPP> yeah, havin the same id is the problem
[14:48] <MrNPP> haha
[14:48] <MrNPP> otherwise just ceph mds rm mds.x
[14:48] <Bram> maybe comment out the mds.0 definition in ceph.conf ?
[14:49] <jluis> that doesn't change the maps
[14:49] <Bram> hmm, right, I was hoping that the clients wouldn't look for mds.0 anymore
[14:49] <jluis> ceph.conf is used by clients and daemons so they know who and where to contact
[14:49] <jluis> well, that *could* work, no idea
[14:50] <jluis> but that doesn't solve the problem at hand
[14:50] <Bram> let's try, but still a cleanup will be needed
[14:50] <jluis> and I can only wonder why and how you ended up in this state
[14:50] <MrNPP> what does "ceph mds stat" show?
[14:50] <Bram> well, I had some issues with mds'ses going down with OOM, and then I restarted them
[14:51] <Bram> e1229: 1/1/1 up {0=0=up:active}, 4 up:standby
[14:51] <MrNPP> interesting
[14:52] <Bram> as in ? how do you correctly interpret this ?
[14:52] <Bram> for example 1/1/1
[14:52] <Bram> no idea what it means
[14:53] <jluis> up/in/max_mds
[14:54] <Bram> allright
[14:54] <Bram> got a clue
[14:55] <Bram> for some reason I actually have 3 mds procs on that node ? ( 10.0.1.156)
[14:55] <Bram> I thought that this could not happen
[14:55] <Bram> root 7782 1 0 Jan24 ? 00:00:38 /usr/local/bin/ceph-mds -i 0 --pid-file /var/run/ceph/mds.0.pid -c /usr/local/etc/ceph/ceph.conf
[14:55] <Bram> root 9235 9084 0 14:54 pts/4 00:00:00 grep mds
[14:55] <Bram> root 31666 1 0 Jan16 ? 00:02:10 /usr/local/bin/ceph-mds -i 0 --pid-file /var/run/ceph/mds.0.pid -c /usr/local/etc/ceph/ceph.conf
[14:55] <jluis> as long as they are running on different ports, they can run
[14:55] <jluis> they should be on the cluster though
[14:56] <MrNPP> they are overwriting their pid's?
[14:56] <jluis> the second should have got some sort of error I suppose
[14:56] <Bram> I killed them and my lock contention is gone :)
[14:56] <Bram> now how to clean this mess up
[14:56] <jluis> are they still on 'mds dump' ?
[14:57] <Bram> I need to do some digging where I screwed up I guess
[14:57] <jluis> I would think they are
[14:57] <Bram> 10540: 10.0.1.79:6800/15005 '1' mds.0.107 up:active seq 315
[14:57] <Bram> 10521: 10.0.1.125:6800/30344 '2' mds.-1.0 up:standby seq 1
[14:57] <Bram> nope
[14:57] <Bram> seems fine
[14:57] <MrNPP> so they cleaned up
[14:57] <Bram> I did to ceph mds rm 0
[14:57] <jluis> Bram, if you find any logs about this let me know
[14:57] <jluis> logs on the monitor side at least
[14:57] <jluis> would love to figure out how we let this happen
[14:57] <MrNPP> are you using cephfs?
[14:57] <Bram> @jluis, ok
[14:57] <cephalobot> Bram: Error: "jluis," is not a valid command.
[14:58] <jluis> thanks
[14:58] <Bram> jluis: yes
[14:58] <Bram> :)
[14:58] <Bram> MrNPP: yup using cephfs
[14:58] <Bram> and rbd
