[17:40] <chaos_> sagewk, today another mds crashed http://wklej.org/id/642964/, without good (i think) reason
[17:41] <sagewk> can you look at the core file and see what the value of r is?
[17:41] <sagewk> oh, 108, nm.
[17:41] <sagewk> that's EBLACKLISTED, which means the mds was being fenced. it should exit cleanly instead of crashing.
[17:42] <chaos_> what is 108?
[17:42] <chaos_> it should?
[17:43] <chaos_> I shouldn't worry? or should I?
[17:43] <sagewk> chaos_: i mean, we should fix it so it does. in any case, the crash is harmless.. ceph-mds is supposed to shut down in that case (when another ceph-mds takes over for it)
[17:44] <chaos_> oh.. so mds daemon restarting from time to time is normal? (i see such things in logs)
[17:55] <chaos_> do you (it's question to all ceph users) have any qos to ensure that mds can communicate during high bandwith usage? sometimes my mds daemons don't recive beacon on time and second mds takes "main" mds place, this happens several times during day, i'm wondering if this is safe

[18:46] <guido> If I want to use rbd with qemu-kvm, do I have to do anything special when compiling qemu? Because the qemu-img (version 1.0) on my machine says "Unknown file format 'rbd'"
[18:47] <guido> The output of qemu's configure script doe not mention ceph or rbd at all...

[20:38] <sjust> pybind/rbd.py
[20:39] <sjust> in the ceph repository
[20:40] <cp> sjust: thanks

[22:03] <todin> how could I check when I use a custom crushmap, that the placemnt is right?
[22:04] <todin> in ceph pg dump is the [1,2] the osd placment of this pg?
[22:23] <todin> with this crushmap http://pastebin.com/E1FGtd1j that's is than wrong? osdmap e16 pg 2.b (2.b) -> up [0,3] acting [0,3]' (0)

[22:52] <yehudasa_> Tv: what do you think would be the best for readwrite test through teuthology (regarding conf): 1. keep it as is and run it with stdio pointing at a yaml conf? 2. modifying it to read yaml conf from a file 3. switching conf to use the same ConfigObj type of config that s3tests use?
[22:53] <Tv> yehuda_hm: 1.
[22:53] <Tv> yehuda_ s3tests should move to the yaml style, not the other way around
[22:53] <yehudasa_> ok, easier I think
[22:53] <Tv> yehuda_hm: cramming the benchmark config into a flat config object would be frustrating
[22:53] <yehudasa_> Tv, it's yehudasa_
[22:54] <Tv> it's ye TAB TAB TAB DAMMIT
[22:54] <Tv> ;)
[22:54] <yehudasa_> yeah, sure
[22:54] <yehudasa_> my lapop at home beeps like crazy now
[22:54] <yehudasa_> latop
[22:54] <yehudasa_> laptop.. bla
[22:55] <Tv> heh.. at the previous job, our argument for getting people to turn off their im notification sounds was very easy: we just made sure their laptop never shut up, until they did
[22:55] <yehudasa_> heh
[22:57] <yehudasa_> Tv: was thinking to just trim the yaml conf subtree under the client and use that
[22:57] <Tv> yehudasa_: i'm not sure what you mean
[22:58] <Tv> oh take a subtree of teuthology input yaml and use that as the benchmark config yaml
[22:58] <Tv> well you'll need to supply ip address, access keys etc too
[22:58] <yehudasa_> the conf that would be injected into the readwrite test would be under s3tests_conf: client.x:
[22:59] <Tv> but for the actual benchmark-specific subtree, sure
[22:59] <Tv> yehuda_ oh please don't make s3tests the functional testing be the same as the benchmark stuff
[22:59] <Tv> they just aren't
[22:59] <Tv> they reside in the same repository because they share code
[23:00] <yehudasa_> Tv: well.. that would be easier
[23:00] <Tv> client.0:
[23:00] <Tv> extra_args: ['test_s3:test_object_acl_grand_public_read']
[23:00] <Tv> none of that stuff applies
[23:01] <Tv> and currently, they take a completely different config format
[23:01] <Tv> even if they didn't, the functional tests require two users etc, which the benchmarks just don't
[23:01] <Tv> they're different beasts
[23:01] <Tv> now, whether you can share code, sure, but don't just assume they'll work the same or it'll be a mess to untangle later
[23:01] <yehudasa_> Tv: yes, that what I meant.. separating it would be easier, though I'm not sure that maintenance wise it'd be the best
